  • “Practical Skills, Confidence and Community: M3 Job Club Made All the Difference in My Return to Work”

I would like to thank yourself and all the others that give their time to make the M3 Job Club happen – you really have made a difference to me.

Last July I entered the job market for the first time in 29 years feeling very buoyant and excited, but that quickly changed after hearing nothing back from my first applications. I heard about the M3 Job Club from the Alton Job Centre Plus and started attending from the beginning of August. Within two M3JC sessions, CV Writing and Marketing Yourself and Interview Skills, I realised how unprepared I had been to succeed with those first applications. The M3JC gave me those skills to succeed with the stand-out sessions for me being on CV writing marketing yourself, interview skills, networking and AI.

I am so pleased that I came across the group and hope that I will be able to give back somehow in the future.

Best Wishes and good luck to all in the group

“After 14 Challenging Months, M3 Job Club's Support Helped Me Find My Breakthrough”

Happily, I have finally had a breakthrough in my search for a new job, 14 months since I took voluntary redundancy in December 2024.

Although I have not been to the M3 Job Club sessions for a while, I continue to closely follow events relating to the M3 Job Club via LinkedIn and the M3JC WhatsApp group. I think the work you are doing supporting people getting back into employment, often at a most vulnerable time in their lives, deserves the highest praise and recognition. I have found the past 14 months really hard at times and the M3 Job Club, as well as my wonderful wife, have been my greatest support during this difficult period. As well as the wonderful community support provided by the M3JC, I have received so much practical assistance, including, but not limited to: help revising my CV; a very useful mock job interview with Gill Cheesewright; several online sessions with my M3JC Buddy at Juniper Research, and also a wealth of advice on how best to navigate the modern job market, understanding the impact of AI on the job search, and building emotional resilience to cope with all the setbacks that inevitably arise while searching for employment. I have applied for over 100 positions and had a number of interviews during the past 14 months, but securing a job offer has proved to be very elusive. I don't know if this is because my self-confidence was low after taking voluntary redundancy or just because the job market is not easy for anyone at this time. I am an experienced software tester, but I felt at times that I was out of the game, with lots of software testing jobs emphasising test automation skills and hardware testing skills, which I had not really spent much time doing previously.

I wish you every success with the upcoming Empower Runway event in Basingstoke on 18th March. Moreover, I wish the M3 Job Club a very bright and prosperous future. Hopefully you will go from strength to strength in supporting the many talented, capable and motivated individuals in our local area who are looking for their next role.

    Best wishes,
    (Steven H 26/02/2026)
